Background

Founded in 1857, Watts & Morgan are one of the most established estate agents in South Wales, offering an extensive range of services for virtually every aspect of real estate related matters for the residential, commercial and agricultural markets.

Their existing website was riddled with problems. It was out-dated, it lacked intuitiveness and was cumbersome to maintain resulting in content quickly becoming obsolete. They instead saw the benefits of a contemporary, user-friendly, multi-functioning website which would work across all devices.

With established third party estate agent system Jupix running their property database, Watts & Morgan approached Limegreentangerine to redesign and implement the site.

Strategy

Watts & Morgan use Jupix, cloud-based estate agency software, to manage their propoerties across all braches. Having studied the software we realised that rather than designing and developing pages for their existing system, we could create a fully content managed website which imported the Jupix property data from their account at reguakr intervals.

By providing both the design and development meant we could offer more value with additional features that were not currently available in their existing system. We could also easily introduce a mobile optimised responsive design and a fully Content Managed System, empowering the staff to manage changes themselves.

We began by analysing the competition and researching useful features from the larger UK portal estate agent sites. We then planned, wireframed and prototyped the entire website to determine the user journey. After collaboration with Watts & Morgan, we designed graphics to create a contemporary looking site which tied in with their existing brand. Based on the fact that ‘you’re only as good as the properties you sell’ we made the properties the focal point of the website choosing large full-screen photos as the shop window.

Results

The new website ticks all the boxes. Aesthetically it enhances the Watts & Morgan brand and positions the organisation as a progressive leader in the industry without losing the longstanding, established values of the company.

With more day to day control of the website via the easily to use CMS, staff can easily update the site with new content which keeps the website fresh and relevant. 

From a user perspective the additional search functionality, enhanced viewing features and mobile optimised design ensure a more satisfying browsing experience which will only serve to increase traffic and time on site and ultimately result in more enquiries. Just 6 months after launch, the site has seen the time viewers spend browsing increase by over 200% with double the number of pages viewed whilst their bounce rate has been slashed to a slender 19%.

From the first phone call, LGT gave us the confidence that they knew their stuff, but more importantly, that they understood what we were trying to achieve. The creation of the site was a stress-free process as after initial meetings LGT built ‘wireframes’, or the bones of the site, that we could access and manoeuvre around to ensure everything worked as we needed.
