Urdd Gobaith Cymru

For children and young people in Wales

Background

The Urdd is an organisation that, through the medium of Welsh, offers activities to children and young people up to the age of 25. Their four residential centres around Wales provide a host of activities from horse riding to watersports for families, schools and young people in a unique Welsh atmosphere. Augmenting these are a wide variety of community projects, sports clubs and events with the yearly highlight culminating at their spring-time touring Eisteddfod.

We worked with the team to create a mobile-friendly bilingual website to act as the hub for all information for the company.

Local and regional

The Urdd's previous online setup consisted of multiple mini-sites with no consistent look or structure. All of the microsites were brought under one roof and each given a section of the site that was easy to navigate. The site had to work both locally and nationally. ‘My area’ was created so that local activities, team leaders and notices could be found with a single click.

A bespoke bilingual event management system was created, allowing events and sports activities to be easily uploaded, edited and archived. These are available on the website and then pushed to the Urdd app, so one upload is accessible on multiple platforms and devices. This custom built module meant that the Urdd team could specify their exact requirements, and we were able to create something that worked effectively for their team

Urdd Gobaith Cymru is Wales’s largest youth organisation with over 55,000 members aged between 8 and 25 years old. We needed a website to attract, inform and inspire our audience and LGT delivered!

It was a lengthy project; the whole Urdd website needed to be transformed into a hub of information and marketing tool to attract all of our stakeholders. Their team worked with us to steer and create a platform that has allowed us as an organisation to communicate more efficiently with our audience. Diolch yn fawr Limegreentangerine!
