Background
Held every May, The Urdd Eisteddfod is Europe’s largest youth touring festival with over 15,000 children and young people competing in over 400 events.
The week is the pinnacle of around 40,000 competitors across Wales who have won their place following local and regional rounds held in the spring months leading up to the Eisteddfod. Beyond the competitions, on the ‘maes’ (field), is hundreds of colourful stalls offering a range of family activities – from biking, climbing and sports sessions to a fun fair, live bands and children’s shows.
The festival is televised extensively for Welsh television channel S4C by production company Avanti Media. They entrust Limegreentangerine with the design of on-screen graphics for the programme and with the management of the events digital platform. The microsite provides live competition results with streaming video of winning performances, up-to-the-minute social feeds from various platforms and showcases behind-the-scenes content to augment their coverage.
