Emma Pooley

British Olympic cyclist and endurance racer

Background

Emma Pooley is a Commonwealth and Olympic silver medal-winning cyclist, specialising in time trials and hill racing. Having retired from the saddle, she crossed over to endurance running, triathlon and long distance duathlon in which she is the reigning double world champion.

In December 2015, she announced her cycling comeback, returning to compete in the time trials and as support for Lizzie Armitstead in the road race at the 2016 Games in Rio. So with the spotlight and the hopes of the nation now firmly back on her in the build-up to Brazil, she asked us to design and develop her website.

Results

As a professional sportswoman competing at an international and Olympic level, Emma needed an official online presence. We embedded data from her Strava activities into the site so all up-to-the-minute training and race stats are available sitewide, creating a richer experience for visitors.

So Emma could add galleries, stats, event updates and race reports easily, we made the calendar and results screen simple and quick to populate. The events are also time-sensitive, meaning the upcoming events automatically update to results information once the race has finished.

The site news and blog section gives Emma a space to talk about her vigorous life, passions and hobbies, showing a side to Emma people haven't seen before.

The team did a wonderful job putting together my website. It looks great, but even more than that it’s easy for me to update the site in a hurry thanks to a CMS that is logical and straightforward. I’m proud of the outcome of all the hard work on the site. It was a pleasure to work together with a team of such smart, motivated people. Emma Pooley
