Budget Vets

A rebrand devoted to pet care

Background

Budget Vets have practices across South Wales – Newport, Risca, Blackwood, Porth and Abertillery. Their problem was simple; the word ‘budget’ in their name attracted a loyal customer base but would often prove off-putting when recruiting. This was compounded by their existing uninspired branding which sank into the background among their competitors.

They approached us for help. In an increasingly squeezed market, they need to find a balance between friendly and approachable but equally inspirational to employees, existing and potential. They needed to communicate ‘budget by name, but not by nature’.

Strategy

Talking to their senior vets, one thing became apparent; they really love what they do, and it is this dedication that connects with pet owners. Our focus was to create a narrative that reflects this devotion, add charm and warmth but underpinned by quality above all else. Our solution was really simple; a heart forms the foundation of our devoted story and became the basis for a stable of lovable characters. Each has a bandaged corner to show they had been ‘fixed’.

These bond with a bold colour palette of pink and purple, amplifying the impact and simplicity of the characters. ‘Scenes’ were created to give the characters a playful world in which to exist, and were carried through to the practice interiors, whilst the striking new colour palette was adopted to uniform and scrubs.

Getting tails wagging

The business continues to flourish, now caring for over 6,000+ pets per month and revenue growing by an impressive 18% in the year following the rebrand. New key members of staff have been added and the business received praise for their appearance on BBC and Rhod Gilbert’s ‘Work Experience’. The rebrand was highly commended at the annual Veterinary Marketing Association advertising awards.

Our rebrand was a huge undertaking but their understanding, ideas and energy produced outstanding results – well beyond our expectations. Both our staff and customers old and new, have really bought into the new brand which has taken our marketing, and our business, to a new level.

We know we can depend on our relationship with Limegreentangerine to help grow our brand as our business continues to flourish. Peter Heathcote, Managing Director
