Kept a surprise for many weeks, us LGT staff had no idea when we walked into the office on that wet and blustery morning that we wouldn’t be inside for long. Neither did we realise that when we got into the minibus, we would be venturing out of Cardiff for a whole day. Two hours later, we arrived at our surprisingly sunny destination, Heatherton World of Activities.
After a spot of lunch, we headed outside into the cold, but pleasantly dry weather. The competition was on. First up was pistol shooting, which tested our aim, accuracy and most importantly, our eyesight. All fired up, we were warm and ready for the next activity: archery.
It was now boys versus girls, and even though the boys hit the targets more often than not, the girls deserved extra points for the skill of (accidentally) hitting each others. The last target-based game, was clay shooting. Boys freshly confident that they had this one in the bag, had their confidence shot down as our, Grace, took the lead, giving the girls a win.
The fun didn’t end there, it was time to put on our overalls and helmets and get in our go-karts. After a few laps of racing, what better way to end the trip with a round of Scalextric to warm up our frozen fingers? Time flies when you’re having fun, so before we knew it, we were heading back to Cardiff for a night of food, drinks and a good ol’ chat.
