Annus busyashellus
To paraphrase Liz Windsor, 2014 was annus busyashellus; we’ve had our heads down more or less all year, booking in a whopping 1300+ jobs, big and small. Highlights, you ask? Well, a few…
Our book jacket design for Richard Parks hit the bookstores (digitally and physically) across the land. Our work with Jöttnar turned up a notch as they entered year two; the follow-up album is always the hardest but it’s fair to say they're second, expanded range of technical mountain wear has knocked it out of the park – sales and response alike. We should know, we wore some of it up a few mountains ourselves in our LGT3PEAKS challenge. On that note, a huge thank you is due to everyone who sponsored us with our friends at Bartholomew Hawkins; you helped us raise a bucket load of cash for Velindre Cancer Centre (final figure TBC in the new year).
Rhod Gilbert spent some televised time with Budget Vets and we cranked up our Time to Change Wales mental health campaign. We gave Bryngarw House and Park a sense of place and created the identity that helped launch Welsh Wound Innovation Centre; a world-class medical research facility. We’ve continued our work with Cardiff and Vale College in print and advertising campaigns alike, created a brand spanking new website for the Urdd and given Kilgarriff & Kahan’s fledgeling authentic Lambrusco business a voice.
Elsewhere, Alex mentored a group of Cardiff Met design students to sweet victory in their autumn sustainability project, Porter’s was again voted Observer Food Monthly readers’ favourite and the chaps at Bartholomew Hawkins were crowned among the nation’s top 100 IFAs; both remarkable achievements.
New faces
Internally, we added three new faces to our team, swelling our headcount to a princely 10. James joined us in October as an experienced and talented Senior Web Designer. Bristolian Jack graduated from Uni and then did a brief stint at Aardman Animation before reluctantly paying the £6.40 toll to enter Wales and claim the web development role at LGT. And last but not least, we were so impressed with Grace's work experience back in the summer, we invited her back for a more permanent role as a junior designer/padawan.
So what’s in store for 2015?
We’re going to be coming out of the blocks fast in the new year. Expect to see new work for a pioneering and ambitious sport science project, a couple of breweries, a restaurant, parental control software and an exciting new theatre. We’ll be sending out Sublime – our retrospective foray into newspaper print and 2015 will also see a new and improved website plus a spruced up LGT HQ.
But, and perhaps more excitingly than all of that, we’re eagerly waiting to find out who wins the goodies in the studio sweepstake – Alex’s baby is due any, day, now…
Crisis appeal
Lastly, if you’ve one eye on the door, waiting for the postman with a card / gift from us, stand down. This year, instead we’ve opted to make a donation to a very worthy cause. Crisis work with homeless people across the country and this Christmas they're appealing for help to provide services and a place to go to for those in need. They’re not a client, but they provide something good and we'd like to support them.
Christmas shut down
We’re shutting our doors on Tuesday 23rd, and flinging them open again on Monday 5th January. So from all of us at Limegreentangerine – Andy, Bev, Adam, Sarah, Alex, Jack, James, Bernie, Rob and Grace, thank you to our friends, clients and suppliers for the last 12 months. Merry Christmas to all and here's wishing an exciting year ahead. And please, accept our apologies for that animated gif… we had to do something festive.
